Are you a patient, compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work within specialist SEN schools?

We are currently recruiting Daily Supply SEN Teaching Assistants to work across specialist schools in Romford and Chingford. This flexible role is ideal for candidates looking to choose their own working days while gaining experience across a range of rewarding SEN settings.

The schools support pupils aged 2-19 years, from Early Years through to Sixth Form, with a range of additional needs including ASD, SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties, sensory needs and complex learning needs. These settings provide highly personalised support to help pupils thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

As a Daily Supply SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence.
  • Assist with classroom activities and personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Support pupils with personal care where required.
  • Follow EHCPs, behaviour support plans and care plans.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist professionals.
  • Help create a safe, calm and nurturing learning environment.
  • Who We're Looking For

    The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ASD, SLD, PMLD, SEMH or complex SEN.
  • Experience within a school, SEN provision, care, healthcare, residential setting or support role.
  • A good understanding of special educational needs and additional learning needs.
  • A calm, patient and compassionate approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with varying levels of need.
  • A valid Enhanced Child & Adult DBS.
  • Experience with Makaton, PECS, AAC, Moving & Handling, behaviour support strategies or sensory-based approaches would be advantageous.
