Position Information

Cecil Hills High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school in a growth area of south–west Sydney. The student enrolment of almost 1400 students (Year 7 to Year 12) includes 85% of students from a non–English speaking background. The school has 1% of students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school proudly has a support unit consisting of seven classes. The main languages spoken at home are Vietnamese, Arabic and Serbian. The school is experiencing significant enrolment growth, and this is expected to continue into the future. The proposed Western Sydney Airport is in the school's drawing area and will provide significant employment and training links when constructed. Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in VET Construction providing the qualification entry benchmark is met with approval and/or willingness to teach Industrial Technology Timber. 

  2. Demonstrated capacity to contribute positively to the TAS faculty and/or whole-school initiatives and to implement effective classroom management strategies with the ability to manage practical workspaces to create a classroom environment that is safe, engaging and inclusive

  3. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with students, colleagues, families, and the wider community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
