Position Information
Windsor High School is a comprehensive high school (709 students) located in the Hawkesbury Valley on the land of the Dharug people. Students are drawn from Maroota in the north to South Windsor. Enrolment is comprised of approximately 21% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 3% students with a language background other than English. The school has a support unit with 5 Multi-categorical classes. Over the past decade the school has focussed on establishing effective systems and structures in curriculum, student welfare, school organisation and professional learning. The school has a positive learning environment and a culture that focuses on student and teacher learning with the aim of improving outcomes for students leaving school. The school is supported by an engaged P&C. There is a strong partnership with the local AECG and the local Aboriginal community.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience supporting students with autism, moderate and mild intellectual disabilities, complex learning and wellbeing needs, including those with mental health diagnoses.
- Demonstrated ability to design, deliver and evaluate differentiated programs and assessment across stages and Key Learning Areas in a Support Unit, using explicit teaching methods. Includes experience supporting Aboriginal students’ learning and cultural needs in line with departmental policies.
- Ability to implement consistent, proactive classroom management and trauma-informed behaviour support for students with challenging behaviours, fostering engagement, self-regulation and inclusive, safe environments.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with proven capacity to build positive relationships with staff, students, carers and external agencies, supporting a solutions-focused culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
