Position Information

Willyama High School (enrolment 581 students, including 141 Aboriginal students) is a comprehensive high school located in Broken Hill in Far West NSW. Our school has established positive relationships and strong connections with our local community with a focus on evidence-based teaching and learning practices that inspire our students to excel through academic, sporting, extra-curricular and cultural endeavours. There is a strong focus on using technology in the classroom and improving literacy and numeracy throughout our school. Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience supporting students with Autism, intellectual disability, trauma and complex behavioural needs.

Demonstrated ability to design and deliver differentiated, data-informed programs that use explicit teaching, evidence-based practice and high expectations to improve academic, social and behavioural outcomes.

Demonstrated effective classroom management skills that create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to build positive, collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents/ carers and external providers.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
