About this job

Position Information

Redbank School is a NSW School for Specific Purposes (SSP) located within the Westmead and Nepean Hospital Precincts, supporting students in Years 7–12 with complex and diverse mental health needs. The school provides a safe, supportive and individualised learning environment where education and wellbeing are closely connected.

Working in partnership with families, community schools, allied health professionals and mental health services, Redbank School supports students to re-engage with learning, build resilience and develop positive pathways for the future. The school is committed to fostering student wellbeing, successful transitions and reintegration into mainstream education, further study or employment where appropriate.

Applicants must demonstrate the capacity and flexibility to work across three school locations, including adolescent inpatient wards within hospital settings. The school operates across Westmead and Nepean Hospitals, providing specialised educational programs to students with complex mental health needs. As part of this role, successful applicants will be required to engage effectively in multidisciplinary environments and adapt to the unique demands of inpatient education.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Capacity to adapt teaching practice, support strategies and learning programs to meet the diverse educational and wellbeing needs of students with complex mental health needs?

  2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with families, health professionals, external agencies or multidisciplinary teams to support a student's learning, wellbeing and successful educational outcomes.

  3. Describe a situation where you successfully supported a student experiencing significant barriers to engagement. What strategies did you implement and what impact did they have on the student's learning, wellbeing and future pathways?

  4. Provide an example of how you have effectively managed a dynamic workload involving students with diverse needs, changing priorities and varying levels of engagement.
