Position Information
Emu Plains Public School is located at the foot of the Blue Mountains, serving a well-established suburban community in Western Sydney, with several generations of families having attended the school. The current enrolment is 407 students across 19 classes, including 16 mainstream classes and three multi-categorical classes. Ten percent of students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and ten percent are from language backgrounds other than English. The Reconciliation Action Plan is regularly reviewed in consualtation with the AECG to best support students and address community and cultural needs.
The school has a strong focus on quality teaching, differentiated learning, collaborative practices, and creating a positive learning environment where every student is known, valued and cared for. It offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for students, including debating, public speaking, dance, choir, academic competitions, and sporting opportunities. Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with diverse learning needs such as mild Intellect disability, complex behaviour difficulties, trauma, and cognitive, autism, social, emotional, and physical challenges and strengths.
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement differentiated instruction tailored to the varying needs of students.
Experience in managing challenging behaviours in a classroom setting, using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that contribute to a culture of inclusivity, with the ability to proactively and professionally engage with all key stakeholders.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
