Emu Plains Public School (466 students, including 29 Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander students) is a dynamic, caring school with a dedicated, collaborative staff that enjoys strong community support. The school has 18 mainstream classes along with a support class (multi-categorical) which was established in 2017. The school has a long history with fine traditions, academic, sporting and creative achievements. The school's current strategic directions are Leadership Excellence, Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and Culture and Connectedness. Teacher professional learning is a critical component of the school with a current focus on building teacher capacity around the teaching of writing and reading, the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning, and embedding formative assessment practices. Staff composition ranges from early career teachers to highly experienced, expert teachers. The school has developed and are enacting a Reconciliation Action Plan across the school community in consultation with the AECG. The school prides itself in providing a range of extra-curricular opportunities for students including choir, dance, environment club, sporting teams, coding club, braille club and chess. Emu Plains Public School is a member of the newly formed Nepean Learning Community and the majority of Year Six students move onto Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School.
