Position Information
Warrawong High School is a co-educational Years 7–12 inclusive high school with a strong focus on explicit teaching strategies and comprehensive wellbeing structures catering to a diverse and dynamic school community reflecting the cultural diversity of contemporary Australia.
Part of the Lake Illawarra North network, which forms a collaborative Warrawong Community of Schools the total student population of Warrawong High School in 2026 is 610, which includes 45% of students with a language background other than English from 25 different nationalities, and 11% identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Warrawong High School hosts the regions only Intensive English Centre (IEC) and the Bayview Education Centre a Special Education unit that is inclusive of 9 classes. To complement our inclusive and diverse school we also host one of the region's first school-based permaculture and community gardens, which supports and promotes sustainable living. We are also home to the Illawarra Academy of STEM Excellence in partnership with local industry, including Bluescope.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Stage 4 and 5 Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative in contributing to the science faculty and work effectively as a proactive and collaborative member of the teaching team.
Proven experience in planning, designing, and delivering high-quality, engaging, and differentiated science lessons that cater to diverse student needs and promote critical thinking.
Demonstrated ability or willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, particularly in STEM education, Marine Studies and innovative course delivery, to enhance student learning outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
