Position Information
Baulkham Hills High School is a coeducational academically selective school with a support unit located in the North West of Sydney. The support unit caters for students with mild/moderate intellectual disability and autism. The school is culturally diverse and has an enrolment of 1,219 with 94% of students from a language background other than English. Entry into Year 7 is via an entrance examination which is conducted by the Selective High Schools and Opportunity Class Placement Unit of Department of Education. Entry into available places in Years 8 to 12 is determined by the school and is based on evidence of consistent academic excellence at the applicant’s former school. Students are encouraged to be well rounded individuals and to participate in leadership opportunities, bands programs, cadets, sporting pursuits, Duke of Edinburgh award and a wide range of extracurricular activities. Committed staff support the learning and wellbeing needs of both high potential and gifted students and students with learning support needs. The school places a strong emphasis on academic excellence and providing a broad curriculum. Other focus areas include growth mindset, wellbeing and the development of social responsibility.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Music Years 7-12 and Music Extension, with demonstrated excellence in delivering differentiated teaching programs for high potential and gifted learners, as well as students in the Support Unit, aligned with HPGE and the Life Skills curriculum.
- Demonstrated ability to use student data and assessment evidence to inform lesson planning, pedagogy and differentiation, adapting teaching to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Proven capacity to use available resources creatively and effectively to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Demonstrated willingness and capacity to contribute to the Wind Ensembles Program and foster an inclusive culture that encourages participation, collaboration and musical growth.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
