About this job

Position Information

Melonba Public School is a brand new school located in the South Creek Network. The school will be located in Melonba in the north-west growth corridor of Sydney which has a high proportion of EAL/D students. The school will be situated in a diverse and multicultural
community. Student enrolments are expected to increase significantly in the first five years of operation as the surrounding area undergoes extensive development.
The school will have capacity for up to 1000 students when completed. Melonba Public School will include three support classes for students with disabilities and additional learning needs, and planning is underway for a preschool. The school will be located at Swallowtail Drive, Melonba, alongside the new Melonba High School. In 2025, Melonba Public School will open at the current temporary high school site, moving into their permanent school alongside the permanent high school in mid 2025.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach infants and primary (K-6) with demonstrated ability to use evidence informed practices to deliver differentiated, high quality, explicit literacy and numeracy programs.

2. Proven ability to create and sustain a culture of high expectations  to develop a positive classroom learning environment that enables students to achieve high-quality wellbeing and learning outcomes. 

3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to work as part of a collaborative team and build positive relationships with students, staff and the community.

4. High level organisational skills with the capacity to enrich student learning opportunities beyond the classroom in areas such as, but not limited to, public speaking, dance and sport.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
