Position Information

Queanbeyan South Public School provides a dynamic and inclusive educational environment for 425 students located close to the border of the Australian Capital Territory on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. Students represent 35 cultural backgrounds with 25% identifying as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander. The school has four district Supported Learning Classes and one district Opportunity Class for gifted and talented students. It also has an onsite Ngurranbai Transition to School Program running three days a week. The school has an extensive Kitchen Garden Program. The school’s educational culture is driven by quality teaching with a highly-skilled professional staff enhancing student opportunities through continuous professional learning. The school looks to embrace opportunities in support of students’ learning and wellbeing. The school’s student welfare and discipline policy is underpinned and supported by the Positive Behaviour for Success program with its core values of Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Throughout the school there is a strong emphasis on Performing Arts, Public Speaking, ICT, sporting teams and clinics. Other curricular programs include the community language of Macedonian.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Infants & Primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

2. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships within a diverse school community.

3. Demonstrated capacity to lead a dynamic, innovative and student focused library learning space that promotes a love of literature.

4. Demonstrated capacity to integrate technologies into effective and innovative classroom practice to inspire and engage future focused learners.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

Special Notes

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
