Queanbeyan South Public School (QSPS) provides a dynamic and inclusive educational environment for 400 students located close to the border of the Australian Capital Territory. Students represent 35 cultural backgrounds with 28% identifying as Aboriginal. The school has three Multi-Categorical (MC) district special needs classes and one district Opportunity Class for gifted and talented students, with an onsite Transition to School Program running four days a week. The school has an extensive school garden and Kitchen Garden Program.  In recent years major educational initiatives at QSPS have focused on literacy, numeracy, student engagement and well-being, technology and performing arts. The schools educational culture is driven by quality teaching and improvement with a highly skilled professional staff enhancing student opportunities through continuous professional learning. Queanbeyan South Public School is currently participating in the regionally focused and highly successful Language, Literacy and Learning (L3) and Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) programs. The school will also participate in the Early Action for Success (EAfS) strategy this year with a further intensive focus on literacy and numeracy K-2.
