Position Information

Karabar High School is a partially Selective High school on Ngambri and Ngunnawal lands in Queanbeyan, in the border region of NSW and the ACT. The school has a current enrolment of 800 students in years 7-12, including 13% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 16.17% English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D).

Karabar High School is committed to high expectations and opportunities for all. The school provides an inclusive and supportive environment that allows each student to develop to their potential with an academically selective stream Years 7-10, a Performing Arts stream in Stage 4 and six special education classes (MC, IM and Tutorial).

Specific Selection Criteria

·       Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (secondary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (secondary).

·       Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with teachers, school support staff, students and parents. 

·       Capacity to develop, implement and evaluate individualised learning, support and wellbeing plans, in partnership with staff, students, and families.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
