Position Information
Lake Cathie Public School, located on Birpai Country, was established in 2014 and welcomed its first 81 students in 2015. Since then, it has built a strong, positive reputation in the local and wider community. In 2026, enrolments total 381 students, with 11% Aboriginal and 3% EAL/D students among our total enrolment. Three supported learning classes contribute to a strong sense of inclusion for all students. A strong collegial partnership exists with Hastings Valley Public School (HVPS), fostering collaboration and mutual support.
Between 2020 and 2021, a major capital works program added seventeen innovative learning spaces, enhancing the environment and supporting modern teaching.
Students are encouraged to achieve success in an inclusive, supportive setting that promotes respect, understanding, and collaboration. The curriculum balances academic and welfare programs with creative arts, sports, and a blend of Explicit Instruction and project-based learning, providing diverse pathways to engage all students.
The school upholds its motto—Spirit, Opportunity, and Excellence—throughout its culture. The Mindsets for Learning program, focused on Gratitude and Character, supports students’ personal growth and learning outcomes.
The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) creates opportunities for social activities that build strong relationships and school spirit.
A respectful partnership with the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) enables cultural initiatives that connect all students meaningfully with the Aboriginal community.

Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach infants and primary with demonstrated ability to implement explicit teaching pedagogy that promotes student understanding and achievement, including high potential and gifted education.
Experience fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment with strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues and community.
Understanding of and commitment to embedding Aboriginal perspectives to support Aboriginal students in learning and culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
