Position Information
Warialda High School is a Yr 7 to 12 comprehensive High School of 212 students, of which 20% are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. A large proportion of students come from rural properties, and family incomes fluctuate with farming conditions. We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school that maintains strong HSC & NAPLAN results with school-wide reading, writing and numeracy approaches focused on improving student learning in the classroom. The majority of students possess a strong work ethic, a sense of community and inclusivity, and highly value education and extracurricular sports. Currently, a third to half of all senior students are engaged in a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship, with a third continuing onto tertiary studies. Often, our students are sought out for employment across NSW and interstate.
Specific Selection Criteria
· Approval to teach English.
· Demonstrated capacity to design, develop and evaluate high-quality English teaching and learning programs that foster student engagement, intellectual challenge and meaningful learning.
· Demonstrated experience in developing teaching practices with a focus on explicit teaching and formative assessment, resulting in an upward shift in student engagement and literacy outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
