Position Information

Chatham Public School is a welcoming and vibrant K–6 school with an enrolment of approximately 230 students, including 43% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, serving a diverse and inclusive community. We have 10 mainstream classes and one support class, with a strong commitment to ensuring every child is known, valued and cared for. The school has a well-established student wellbeing approach that promotes calm, supportive and predictable learning environments. Staff work collaboratively to support each child’s development, wellbeing and engagement. The successful applicant will join a dedicated and collegial team focused on achieving the best outcomes for every student.

 
Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Infants and Primary, with a demonstrated ability to use evidenced-informed and data-driven practices to design and deliver high-quality literacy and numeracy programs that meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.

2. Proven capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, families and the wider community, demonstrating highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships and contribute to a collaborative and supportive school culture.

3. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culturally responsive, respectful and inclusive school community, with the ability to build strong partnerships that recognise and value the diverse backgrounds, experiences and strengths of students and families.

4. Highly developed classroom management and student wellbeing practices, with a demonstrated ability to establish safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
