Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist Assistant (SLTA)
The Role:
A speech and language therapist assistant will focus on supporting children and adults who have speech, language, communication or eating/swallowing difficulties. Work within multi-disciplinary teams across alternative schools and SEN provisions.
Deliver and support pre-diagnosed communication or swallowing disorders in planned individual/ group therapy programs.Make custom learning tools, pictures and games.Support patients with neurological conditions, developmental delays, or learning disabilities.Advise and train family members, carers, teachers, and other professionals on communication strategies or safe swallowing techniques that's been set from a licensed therapist.Collaborate with teachers, Speech and Language therapists, nurses, doctors, and psychologists.Progress monitoring, reviewing and adapting therapy sessions.Maintain clinical records and write progress reports, session notes and update patient files.

Academic baseline of GCSE or Qualifications in English/MathsLevel 3 or BTEC in health, education or social careEnhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory. (We can help advise on this)Empathise with vulnerable pupils & patiently build trust and rapport.Have strong communication skills with strong active listening and conflict resolution skills.
