SEN Teaching Assistant
Pay: £90-£110 per day (DOE) Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm Full-Time | Term Time Only Walthamstow, East London
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN setting supporting pupils with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex communication needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive environment where staff play a key role in helping pupils develop independence, confidence, communication skills, and achieve their individual goals.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism, SLD, PMLD, SEMH, and additional learning needsProviding 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning and care needsAssisting with personalised learning programmes, care plans, and sensory-based activitiesSupporting communication, engagement, emotional regulation, and independenceWorking closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environmentBuilding positive and trusting relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing, and personal developmentSEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with complex learning needsA patient, resilient, and proactive approachExperience supporting pupils with Autism, SLD and/or PMLD (desirable but not essential)Experience with personal care, manual handling, or sensory support (preferred)Strong communication and relationship-building skillsPrevious experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults (desirable)Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS with both Child and Adult Workforce checks, or be willing to obtain oneIdeal for aspiring SEN Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, or Health & Social Care professionalsIf you're interested in this SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity, please contact Aaron Nacey-Smart at Veritas Education.
