SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Harrogate from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN (e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech and language, SEMH)Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and inclusive lessonsSupport the implementation of EHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)Encourage pupils' social, emotional, and academic developmentPromote positive behaviour and reinforce school expectationsHelp create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environmentWork collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionalsSupport with personal care if required (training provided)Monitor and record pupil progressAbout You
We are looking for someone who is:
Patient, caring, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needsAble to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staffAdaptable and resilient in a busy school environmentA strong team player with a positive, proactive attitudeEssential Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with special educational needsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsUnderstanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilitiesDesirable
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)Experience within a primary school settingKnowledge of autism, SEMH, or speech and language support strategiesTeam Teach or behaviour support trainingWhat the School Offers
