Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Ages 4-16) - Full-Time
Location: Knowsley, Liverpool
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Knowsley, Liverpool, supporting pupils aged 4-16 with a range of additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs both in the classroom and during individual or small group interventionsAssist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across the curriculumHelp implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plansPromote pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeingSupport the management of behaviour using positive and consistent strategiesMonitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staffWork collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external professionalsContribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environmentRequirements
Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirableUnderstanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language and communication difficultiesA patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupilsStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and familiesRelevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essentialEnhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain oneBenefits
