SEN Teacher Location: Hertfordshire Salary: £200 - £250+ per day (depending on experience) Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026

An exceptional specialist provision in Hertfordshire is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join its committed team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ambitious educator looking to develop their career within a highly supportive and nurturing SEND environment.

The school supports boys aged 11-16 with a range of complex needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, attachment difficulties and barriers to learning. The provision is built around strong relationships, therapeutic practice, emotional regulation and personalised learning approaches.

The successful candidate will join a school community committed to helping pupils develop resilience, self-regulation, independence and academic success through a highly adapted curriculum and inclusive teaching practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, ADHD and additional learning needs
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and families
  • Use trauma-informed and autism-friendly teaching strategies
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to annual reviews and target setting
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and student wellbeing
  • Deliver high-quality teaching that supports both academic and personal development
  • The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
  • Experience working within SEN, SEND, SEMH or alternative provision settings
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition and associated needs
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and differentiated learning approaches
  • A nurturing, resilient and adaptable teaching style
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH or trauma-related needs
  • Knowledge of therapeutic or restorative approaches
  • Familiarity with TEACCH, Zones of Regulation or sensory-informed practice
  • Experience in small class teaching environments
