SEMH Teaching Assistant

Pay: £90 - £120 per day Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 - 16:00 Contract: Full-time / Term Time Only Location: North East London

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs across schools in North East London. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in young people's lives and gaining valuable experience for careers in education, psychology, or youth services.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in a classroom setting
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to encourage positive behaviour and engagement
  • Implementing behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies
  • Assisting teachers in creating a structured, calm, and supportive learning environment
  • Building strong, positive relationships to help develop confidence, resilience, and social skills
  • SEMH Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
  • Patient, resilient, and proactive approach
  • Experience or training in behaviour management or manual handling (desirable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (preferred)
  • Ideal for aspiring Youth Workers, Behaviour Mentors, Teachers, or Educational Psychologists
