  • About the Role

    Veritas Education are working in partnership with an all-through specialist provision in Middlesbrough to recruit a SEMH & Behaviour Support Assistant for a long-term opportunity starting in September (with the option to begin sooner).

    This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour across both primary and secondary age groups.

    You will play a key role in helping students access education, regulate behaviour and build positive relationships within a supportive and structured environment.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support behaviour management strategies both in and out of the classroom
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils to promote engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
  • Support students to develop emotional regulation and social skills

  • Experienced working with children or young people with behavioural needs
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
  • Calm, resilient and able to manage challenging situations
  • Strong communicators who can build trust and rapport quickly
  • Ideal backgrounds include:

  • Teaching Assistant / SEN experience
  • Youth work, sports coaching or mentoring
  • Residential care / support work
  • Psychology graduates or those pursuing a career in education
