About The Role:

Jimboomba State School is seeking a dependable and proactive Facilities and Grounds Officer to support the maintenance, presentation and safety of the school environment.

This role contributes to the effective day-to-day operation of the school through facilities maintenance, grounds care and general support services.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively within a team, demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, and take pride in maintaining school buildings and grounds to a high standard. The role requires a practical, flexible approach and ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming learning environment for students, staff and visitors.

Major Accountabilities:

As the Schools, Grounds, Facilities Officer you may have responsibility for the following:

  • Maintain school grounds, ovals and outdoor facilities, including mowing, gardening and waste management.
  • Undertake routine facilities maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, furniture and equipment.
  • Prepare and support school activities, events, assemblies and examinations, including furniture movement.
  • Maintain and monitor of pool and pool facilities in accordance with WHS requirements.
  • Operate, maintain and store tools, machinery and equipment in accordance with WHS requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards, including safe handling of chemicals and fuels.
  • Identify, report and respond to maintenance and safety issues in consultation with the Principal or nominated delegate.
  • Liaise with staff, students and external contractors regarding facilities and grounds matters.
  • Support security-related duties within core hours, including locking and unlocking of buildings.
  • Competent or ability to acquire computer skills in order to use school-based programs.
