Who We Are:

Positioned in close proximity to the Brisbane International Airport the curriculum at Aviation High School has been significantly influenced and supported by the aerospace and aviation industries.

Our school offers Queensland Studies Authority subjects from Year 7 to Year 12 similar to other schools, with specialist subjects such as Aerospace being offered in Years 9-12.

Where possible subjects have been contextualised with aerospace and aviation content. 

Subjects such as aeroskills technology (Years 7-10), Aerospace studies (Years 9-12) and aeroskills studies (Years 11-12) are also offered at the school.

We are seeking a dedicated Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, to contribute to the efficient and effective operation of our school by maintaining its beautiful grounds and facilities to a high standard.

Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or a nominated delegate, this role involves a variety of routine and non-routine tasks to ensure the school remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a proactive approach to maintenance, and takes pride in creating a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving school grounds, including lawns, gardens, and outdoor sports facilities.
  • Performing general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and upkeep of school facilities and equipment.
  • Supporting school operations through tasks such as setting up activity areas, moving furniture, and managing supplies.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards, including safe storage and handling of materials.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding maintenance and facility-related matters.

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with staff, students, and external contractors.
  • A proactive and organised approach to work, with attention to detail.
