Position Information

Tamworth South Public School (TSPS) is a large rural school situated on the western side of the Peel River within the confines of Tamworth. Tamworth South Public school has a current enrolment of 503 students. The school’s enrolment comprises 49% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 11% of students who speak English as an Additional Language or Dialect.

Tamworth South Public School is a community-focused school committed to providing high quality education for all students within a safe, caring and supportive learning environment that is sensitive to the needs of the individual. Dedicated staff provide diverse, engaging and future-focused educational programs which promote and develop student creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication. Tamworth South Public School hosts five support classes and one Opportunity class. Students access the latest in learning technologies both within our Technology Hub and classrooms. Staff are professionally supported by the schools Deputy Principal Instructional Leader, and two Assistant Principals Curriculum and Instruction. General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
 

1.    Demonstrated outstanding instructional leadership to drive student growth and achievement in literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching, evidence-based practices, high-impact professional learning, deep knowledge of students and curriculum, and high expectations for all learners.

2.    Evidence of being an authentic, highly visible and approachable leader who fosters a strong sense of connection, belonging and shared purpose across the school community through genuine engagement, trust, transparency and leading by example.

3.    Demonstrated capacity to lead the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of a high-impact School Excellence Plan, aligned with the School Excellence Framework and NSW Plan for Public Education, while creating and sustaining a positive, inclusive and high-expectation school culture through strong wellbeing, behaviour and attendance practices that enhance student engagement and success.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2026.
