Position Information

Collarenebri Central School is located 140km West of Moree.  Built on the land of the Gamilraay people, Collarenebri Central School has a proud history that celebrates the positive traditions of our past, while embracing the challenges of our future.” The school is K-12 with an enrolment of 76 students; this includes 92% Aboriginal students. The school is in a remote rural location allowing learning opportunities to occur in unique environments. Collarenebri Central School is a member of the Northern Border Senior Access (NBSA) program which delivers a broad curriculum for students in years 11 and 12 across four schools. Facilities at the school include two trade training centers (Hospitality and Construction), a library, a gym, basketball courts and a community hub. We are focused on school leadership, a positive school environment, imbedding local language and culture, student engagement, Literacy and Numeracy, wellbeing, vocational education pathways, linking education to the community and communication with families and the community. In 2025, Collarenebri Central School began implementing key elements of the Connected Communities Strategy to support a dedicated focus on flexible and responsive place-based services to address student, family and community needs. The principal will play a pivotal role in implementing the key elements of the Strategy, with a strong focus on educational leadership, particularly engaging with the local Aboriginal Community. The principal will improve student engagement and greater educational outcomes for all students, while growing and sustaining Aboriginal community confidence in NSW Public Schools.  Students Honour Freedom Ride Superheroes

This appointment is for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of extension.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. Deep knowledge and understanding of the Connected Communities Strategy, department’s Aboriginal Education polices and related government policies and strategies.
  2. Strong educational leadership, strategic analysis and planning capability, combined with creative problem-solving skills to drive innovative programs and initiatives that lead to high quality learning outcomes for Aboriginal students.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to implement the schools shared vision and plan in partnership with the local community while being dynamic and responsive to achieve results. 
  4. Demonstrated capacity to build authentic connections and collaboration with students, staff, parents, and the community to strengthen educational partnerships that improve student outcomes.
  5. Ability to inspire confidence in Public Education.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
