Position Information
Riverwood Public School is a dynamic school located in south-western Sydney in the Beverly Hills Principals Network. It provides quality education programs from Preschool to Year 6 for 158 students, including 8 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school has a strong focus on inclusive education, enhancing learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students.

Our public preschool is an approved early childhood education and care service, operating under the requirements of the National Quality Framework. We provide a safe, secure and quality play-based and intentional educational program to support every child to make a strong start in life and learning and experience a successful transition to school. This role includes:
- Clear child safety responsibilities, including mandatory reporting, and requires a strong commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment by recognising, responding and reporting concerns and taking part in ongoing training and improvement of child safe practices; and
- A requirement to implement the National Quality Framework, fulfilling the role of the nominated supervisor, guided by the paramountcy principle to ensure the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children through high-quality early childhood education and continuous improvement.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. A highly visible, approachable and experienced leader with commitment to enhancing authentic relationships, cultural partnerships and cohesion with students, parents, staff and the local network of schools.
2. A proven high-quality instructional leader with commitment and experience leading effective professional learning in evidence-informed pedagogy, resulting in improved student outcomes for all learners.
3. Proven capacity to effectively lead and meet the compliance and regulatory standards of both a Preschool and K-6 setting driven by Our Plan for NSW Public Education.
4. Evidence of impact in leading trauma-informed practices and student wellbeing initiatives that respond to the diverse needs of students and support the local community to ensure equity and excellence for all.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
