Position Information
Campbell House School is a school for specific purposes that supports the learning and welfare needs of sixty three students in years seven to twelve. The school is situated in Glenfield and services students from areas of South West Sydney, all students are from low socio-economic backgrounds, 23% of our student population are Indigenous and 16% are in Out of Home Care.
Campbell House School staff are committed to providing a quality education for all students and provide an inclusive learning and teaching environment for students who have emotional and behavioural disorders with normal cognitive ability.
Our core business is to improve the academic, social, vocational and behavioural outcomes with a focus on wellbeing for all students. The aim is to bridge gaps in literacy and numeracy, supporting the mental health needs of our school community and building pathways to further education, employment, or transition to post school options. All students are presented with opportunities to achieve their Higher School Certificate or Record of School Achievement.
At Campbell House School we value the identity, culture, heritage and languages of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families. Staff connect with Aboriginal students and their families to support aspirational goals.
The Campbell House School motto is: Building Positive Relationships in a Learning Community and this forms the basis on which all learning programs are created. Students attending Campbell House School have experienced significant disruption to their schooling as a result of their diagnosed disabilities, as such the school adopts trauma informed and restorative practices to support all learning.
Wellbeing practices are embedded throughout all aspects of the school curriculum, this can been seen in the delivery of Positive Education and character strengths development alongside trauma- informed practices. Wellbeing is fundamental to our staff and wider school community where we focus on the continuance of positive emotions, engaging relationships and effective communication.
As a result of the situational analysis our Strategic Improvement Plan has been formulated on areas of growth and the strengthening of areas of excellence which are a priority for our school community.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. A highly visible, inclusive and collaborative leader who is trauma informed, displays high emotional intelligence and has a demonstrated capacity to lead staff to drive a culture of continuous improvement for students who require intensive learning support.
2. High-level communication skills that demonstrate the capacity to engage stakeholders to develop culturally responsive, strengths-based programs that support student learning, wellbeing and post school pathways.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of new curriculum, with proven experience in driving evidence-based teaching practices, assessment and data informed decision making that improves outcomes for all students.
4. A decisive and proactive leader who has a comprehensive understanding of additional support pathways and is able to advocate and access meaningful opportunities for students.

Classification Structure for Principals:
The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
