Position Information

Crown Street Public School, located in the vibrant inner city suburb of Surry Hills, Sydney, caters to a diverse student population of 283. Our school culture is grounded in connectedness, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging, fostering collaboration among students, staff, families, and the wider community to support academic achievement and excellence.

Our multicultural community significantly enriches the learning environment, with 35 different languages spoken on site. The Mandarin Chinese Community Language Program plays a vital role in helping students maintain and develop their community language skills. Remarkably, 49% of our students come from a language background other than English. 13% of our students require EALD support, and 1% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

We offer a broad range of extracurricular opportunities, including STEM initiatives with a focus on coding and robotics, Information and Digital Technologies, Performing and Creative Arts, Sports and Physical Education, as well as Debating and Public Speaking. Additionally, our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program provides hands on learning experiences that promote healthy eating and environmental awareness.

Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in the vigilant monitoring of student progress and the provision of responsive support to meet individual learning needs. We place a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, implementing a variety of programs and initiatives throughout the school. As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, we actively promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
