Position Information

Castle Cove Public School, founded in 1952, is located in a quiet, leafy area situated on a peninsula on the north shore of Sydney. The school has an enrolment of around 250 students, with approximately 36% from a language background other than English. It is located on a split site, with K-2 on one site and 3-6 on the other. Quality learning programs are differentiated to meet the needs of students, and a range of extra-curricular opportunities enable students to experience and excel in areas of interest. The school benefits from a high level of parental support, with an aspirational community. The school values students' social and emotional wellbeing and the development of positive relationships between students, staff and the wider school community.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria:

  1. A visible and open leader who has high emotional intelligence and a demonstrated ability to lead a student-centred vision aligned with the priorities of Our Plan for NSW Public Education

  2. Demonstrated ability to build educational partnerships and foster community engagement to maximise learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students  

  3. Proven capacity to lead strategic whole-school improvement, school planning and curriculum reform in literacy and numeracy, through explicit teaching, data-informed practice and high-quality professional learning, driving measurable student growth across Kindergarten to Year 6.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
