This starts with recruitment and selection. The methods of assessing suitability in the recruitment process may vary. This includes making reasonable adjustments to support applicants at all stages of the process and employee lifecycle.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists on the HR Projects Team for an ER/IR practitioner, or human resource management practitioner with significant experience applying industrial employment instruments, to apply their knowledge, skills and experience in the role of Principal Project Officer. The role is located within the Department's Information and Technologies Branch.
If you've been thinking about stepping away from the operational and day-to-day of your ER/IR job but still wish to utilise your knowledge and skills, this is the role for you.
The role is ready for immediate start and will be best suited to a candidate who can demonstrate a comprehensive and extensive working knowledge of the following:

  • Queensland Government employment legislation;
  • Public Service Act;
  • State Government Awards;
  • Certified Agreements.
  • Knowledge of industrial instruments and employment framework legislation within the Department of Education context will be highly desirable.

In addition to the above, the best suited candidate will also need:

  • Highly developed research and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders, as a single point of contact
  • An ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the department, and externally to achieve required outcomes in support of the broader change program.
  • To actively contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the project team.

You will work collaboratively within the HCMS implementation team to analyse, review and verify existing conditions of employment/entitlements to support the future design and build of system requirements to ensure seamless integration with new system. You will be responsible for liaising with other departmental ER/IR and HR colleagues who will be available for support and guidance, where required.

Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.

How to Apply

  • A brief resume outlining your relevant previous work history including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); and
  • A maximum 1-page statement about how your achievements and capabilities meet the requirements of the role. Please note that the selection panel will not contact referees without advising candidates first.

We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.

Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.

Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.
