About the Role

As the Manager, Budget Management you will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Manage the preparation of DoE's infrastructure budget submission, ensuring accurate reporting and effective communication with key stakeholders including Executive management, and other government agencies.
  • Prepare timely and accurate Budget Reports for meetings, Committees and Boards that report on performance and enable strong financial management and decision making
  • Lead and manage a team in providing a high-quality service in the design of innovative solutions, responding to enquiries and delivering on budget management practices for infrastructure related services for internal clients and stakeholders
  • Lead detailed data analysis and quality assurance processes across the investment portfolio that supports the delivery of the Infrastructure Investment Portfolio and detailed management of funds availability.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key stakeholder groups across the Department to ensure accuracy and reliability of data and information from the appropriate sources to inform current and future budget needs
  • Collaborate with SME's and contribute to high-level advice on budgetary, infrastructure, and asset management issues that informs the Minister, Director-General, senior management, and departmental stakeholders in decision-making.
  • Prepare and deliver briefing notes, financial verifications, reports, and recommendations on budgetary and infrastructure matters.

This position is responsible for the management of human, financial and physical resources and accountable for their effective use. The position reports to the Senior Director and can be required to work across any team or work unit within the Division.

About You

A background in budget management within an infrastructure environment, also experience in portfolio or program will be highly regarded. Strong experience in management reporting, brief writing, and technical advice will also be advantageous.

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications required:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant area (finance, accountancy, business) - Highly Desirable
  • Current membership with CPA Australia or ICAA - Desirable

When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
