Veritas Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a welcoming secondary school in the Wakefield area. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support to students with a range of learning needs, ensuring they can fully engage with their education in a positive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils within the classroom.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence.
  • Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

    • The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, youth work, or support setting.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A relevant qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
