Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Heckmondwike to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Intervention Support Assistant. This rewarding role involves supporting students who require additional academic and pastoral intervention, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an Intervention Support Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver targeted interventions to small groups and individual students.
  • Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum-based learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement intervention strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to relevant staff.
  • Support students' emotional wellbeing, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents where appropriate.

    • The Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, coaching, or support setting.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is patient, resilient, and committed to supporting students with varying needs.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Has a genuine passion for education and helping young people succeed.
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or intervention programmes is desirable but not essential.
