Position Information

Hastings Secondary College Westport Campus is a comprehensive secondary school in Port Macquarie, providing a diverse and inclusive learning environment where every student is known, valued and supported to achieve their personal best. The campus offers a broad curriculum and a range of academic, vocational, wellbeing and transition pathways. Westport Campus has a strong Supported Learning faculty catering for students with diverse and complex learning, communication, behavioural and wellbeing needs. The Head Teacher Inclusive/Special Education will provide strategic leadership of Supported Learning and strengthen inclusive practice across the campus, building staff capability and promoting high expectations, engagement and positive outcomes for students with disability. As a member of the school executive team, the successful applicant will contribute to whole-school priorities and work collaboratively with staff, students, families and community partners to strengthen learning, wellbeing and successful pathways for all students.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, applicant must address the following specific criteria.
