The Head Teacher Science will lead a faculty committed to the implementation of High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) pedagogies, embedding evidence-based, explicit teaching practices tailored to challenge and support gifted learners at all stages. This role involves stewarding innovative programs that extend inquiry-based learning, critical scientific thinking and rigorous assessment practices aligned with the school’s strategic emphasis on HPGE. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing strategic directions including enhancing STEM learning, promoting a growth mindset and ensuring that all students are challenged and supported to realise their full potential in science and beyond.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria
Current approval to teach Science in Year 7-10 and relevant skills and/or experience leading across Chemistry, Physics and Biology in Stage 6.
- Demonstrated expertise in High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), including the capacity to lead and implement differentiated, evidence-based teaching strategies in science that promote intellectual challenge, critical and creative thinking and sustained academic growth for gifted and high potential girls in a selective school environment.
- Highly developed collaborative leadership skills in mentoring staff, facilitating targeted professional learning in HPGE pedagogies and fostering a culture of reflective practice that supports continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the science faculty.
- Proven ability to actively contribute as a member of the school executive to advance whole-school strategic goals, particularly those supporting gifted and high potential girls, as outlined in the School Excellence Plan. An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
