Position Information
Lurnea High School is a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school located in the city of Liverpool. The school serves a diverse community of learners with 84% of students having a language background other than English (LBOTE) and of that number 40% require EAL/D (English an additional language or dialect) support. There are 715 students including 32 students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
The school has a Support Unit of 101 placements for students with mild, moderate intellectual delays and autism. The school also has an Intensive English Centre (IEC) catering for the English language learning needs of newly arrived migrant and refugee students (numbering between 85- 120 annually).
The provision of rich, accessible, flexible and creative learning experiences lies at the heart of the ways students and staff thrive and learn at Lurnea High School through a growth mindset of increasing educational attainment for every student every year. In the HSC 2025, Lurnea High School was named as one of the most improved schools across the state. Consistent growth in HSC attainment, alongside improvement in a wide range of student performance measures including NAPLAN, places the school among the strongest improvers statewide.
It is an inclusive school united by a shared aim for young people to be active, engaged learners, creative, critical and innovative thinkers and responders; who are respectful, responsible, fair, tolerant and understanding citizens.

Specific Selection Criteria
1. Capacity to lead and manage a large faculty, including leadership of the full range of PE, Health and Sport curriculum, and the capacity to advance equal participation and inclusion for all students.
2. An awareness and understanding of working in a complex setting inclusive of students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and experiences, and the capacity to establish effective partnerships with colleagues, parents and the broader community to achieve improved learning outcomes for all students.
3. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the executive team and operate at a whole school level to effectively implement the vision for the school as articulated in the School Excellence Plan.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
