Position Information
Airds High School is a 7-12 comprehensive secondary school within the NSW Department of Education's Regional South and Connected Communities Directorate. As the local community evolves, Airds High School remains a central hub uniquely positioned to support students and families.
The school maintains a strong focus on strengthening trust and building confidence in public education. The school is committed to achieving the key deliverables of the NSW Department of Education Connected Communities strategy. The school is a hub for delivering government and non-government services to improve outcomes for Aboriginal students and their families. The school has a School Reference Group (SRG) and is committed to the Partnership Agreement 'Walking Together Working Together'. The school recognises the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Incorporated (NSW AECG) as the peak community advisory body, and the school is committed to continuing to strengthen this relationship.
Airds High School has a diverse student population, with students from a range of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Student enrolment figures have been increasing; at the beginning of 2026, the student enrolment count was 582, of which 170 identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. 40% of students have a Language Background other than English, and 11% of students have English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). The student population is highly multicultural with a significant Pasifika student cohort.
The school has an inclusive Support Unit consisting of 7 classes which cater for 72 students with a range of moderate to high learning and support needs. The school operates a Compressed Curriculum delivery model, allowing students to complete both the Stage 6 Preliminary and Higher School Certificate (HSC), including the HSC examinations, within one calendar year instead of the traditional two years.

Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Mathematics 7-12 and demonstrated ability to lead, support and develop colleagues.
- Proven expertise in visible and proactive school leadership, working in successful collaboration with the executive to develop and support whole school policies, priorities and initiatives in reference to the Connected Communities Strategy.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in developing data informed practices and programs to improve student success and school excellence in a school with students with diverse and complex backgrounds.
- Demonstrated capacity in successfully leading the implementation of curriculum to support the learning of a broad range of students, including Aboriginal students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
