Position Information
John Edmondson High School, with an enrolment of approximately 1080 students, including 67% of students from a non-English speaking background and 31 Aboriginal students, is a dynamic Year 7 - 12 comprehensive co-educational high school. The school serves a community in South-West Sydney in the Glenfield area that includes a wide range of families from diverse cultural and socio-economic groups living in suburban, as well as semi-rural environments. The school has an extensive curriculum and promotes academic, sporting and leadership development and achievement. Innovative features include extensive technological resources and numerous opportunities for student enrichment. Strong links with partner Primary Schools as well as external providers are being extended to further develop student opportunities for learning and success. General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Expert knowledge of Industrial Arts and Vocational Education curriculum, with the capacity to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of high-quality teaching and learning programs, assessment practices and curriculum resources.
2. Proven ability to build and lead a collaborative faculty team, developing staff capacity and confidence in workshop practices, industry standard equipment and curriculum delivery.
3. Demonstrated expertise in faculty management and continuous improvement, including the effective management of workshops, equipment and resources and compliance requirements to ensure high standards of operational effectiveness and safety.
4. Outstanding interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead strategic initiatives that drive school excellence and continuous improvement.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
