About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-respected secondary school in Bradford to recruit an experienced and committed Head of Year for a full-time, long-term position starting from October Half Term 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong pastoral professional to lead and support a designated year group, ensuring students achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, enhancing student wellbeing, and maintaining high standards across the year group.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the pastoral care and development of a designated year groupMonitor and support student attendance, behaviour, punctuality, and wellbeingBuild positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and staffWork closely with senior leaders, safeguarding teams, and teaching staffIdentify and support students who may be facing barriers to learningManage behaviour incidents and coordinate appropriate interventionsLead assemblies, reward systems, and year group initiativesAttend parental meetings and communicate effectively with familiesMaintain accurate pastoral records and reportsLiaise with external agencies where appropriateThe Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, or student support roleExperience working with secondary-age studentsStrong leadership, communication, and organisational skillsAbility to build positive and professional relationships with young peopleResilient, proactive, and solution-focused approachPassionate about improving outcomes for studentsCommitted to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young peopleWhat the School Offers
