About the Role 

At Canberra Grammar School, our House system is at the heart of student life. As a Head of Student House, you will be much more than a leader, you will be a mentor, advocate, coach and trusted guide for students as they navigate some of the most important years of their lives. 

This is an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding educator and leader to shape the student experience through pastoral leadership, wellbeing initiatives, leadership development and community building. 

Working closely with students, families and colleagues, you will create a House culture where every student feels known, valued, challenged and supported. You will champion student wellbeing, foster strong relationships and provide leadership opportunities that inspire young people to flourish both within and beyond the classroom.

You are an inspiring and relational leader who believes that outstanding pastoral care changes lives. 

You will bring: 

  • Demonstrated leadership capability with a proven record of leading teams, programs or initiatives to achieve positive outcomes 
  • Ability to inspire, support and influence students and colleagues while fostering a positive House culture 
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development 
  • Willingness to engage with contemporary practices in student wellbeing, leadership and education 
  • Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines 
  • Capacity to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions 
  • Ability to respond effectively to challenges with sound judgement and initiative 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with School leaders and colleagues 
  • Commitment to contributing positively to whole-school initiatives and strategic priorities 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students and families 
  • Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing, pastoral care and fostering a sense of belonging. 

All team members at CGS are required to have: 

  • Appropriate qualifications 
  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card 
  • A current National Police Check 
  • Full working rights within Australia.
