About the Role

As Head of Department - Science you will lead curriculum, teaching and assessment across Science subjects, ensuring high-quality instruction, consistent planning, and strong student outcomes.

  • The role includes coaching and developing staff, analysing student data to guide improvement strategies, overseeing assessment and moderation processes, and maintaining safe and compliant laboratory practices.
  • The role coordinates resources and budgets, supports differentiated and evidence-based teaching approaches, and contributes to whole-school improvement priorities through clear communication and collaborative leadership.
  • The role requires strong science teaching expertise, instructional leadership capability, data-informed decision making, and effective staff coaching and organisational skills.

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
