About the Role:
You will lead the implementation of Essential English and Essential Mathematics curriculum and Short Course Literacy and Numeracy across all nine campuses.
Working collaboratively with campus leaders, teachers, and support staff, the Head of Department - Educational Achievement will oversee curriculum planning, assessment, moderation, and data-informed improvement processes. The role also contributes to the day-to-day leadership and operations of the Coorparoo Campus, ensuring educational priorities are aligned with the school's strategic direction and that all students are supported to achieve successful learning outcomes.
Based at our Coorparoo campus, this role works closely with campus leadership teams and teachers across all campuses to strengthen Literacy and Numeracy outcomes, build staff capability, and promote a shared understanding of effective teaching practices that support student engagement and achievement.
Key Aspects:
- Leading the implementation and quality assurance of Essential English and Essential Mathematics and Short Course Literacy and Numeracy.
- Supporting teachers to plan, deliver, assess, and moderate high-quality curriculum aligned with QCAA requirements and the needs of our diverse student cohort.
- Using student achievement, engagement, and wellbeing data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and drive continuous improvement in learning outcomes.
- Working closely with campus leaders and teachers to support students and improve pathways to further learning, training, and employment.
- Developing and reviewing resources, assessment materials, and support tools that promote consistency and quality across campuses.
- Supporting the effective use of digital technologies, including QLearn and emerging technologies, to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
- Supporting day-to-day leadership and operations of the Coorparoo campus, reporting to the Head of Campus - Metro South.
- Case management of students to ensure successful completion of the QCE.
About You:
You will be a highly effective leader who is passionate about building teacher capability and improving student outcomes.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong teaching expertise and curriculum leadership, with the ability to guide staff in implementing curriculum designed to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Experience in leading professional learning and building teacher capability, including supporting teachers through collaborative professional practice.
- The ability to build strong professional relationships and work collaboratively with campus leaders and teachers across multiple campuses.
- Strong analytical and reflective practice, including the ability to use data and evidence to inform a futures focus in curriculum and school improvement.
- Effective organisational and leadership skills, including the ability to manage human, financial and physical resources to achieve organisational outcomes.
- A commitment to fostering a positive professional culture, grounded in ethical practice, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- An interest in contemporary and digital pedagogies, including the use of platforms such as QLearn and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of QCE requirements, senior QCAA subjects and processes and VET curriculum and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
