Head of Curriculum
Pay: Competitive - DOE Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30 - 16:00 Full-time Location: Walthamstow, East London
We're looking for an experienced and driven Head of Curriculum to join a forward-thinking school in Walthamstow. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality teaching, curriculum excellence, and outstanding learner outcomes.
Purpose of the Role
The Head of Curriculum will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of delivery is of the highest standard through the leadership, management, and development of curriculum provision within a designated area, alongside the effective and efficient use of resources.
Head of Curriculum Role:
Provide leadership and direction across learning, teaching, and pastoral care to ensure a high-quality learner experienceLead on curriculum development, delivery, and continuous improvement within your subject areaEnsure consistent efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of provision for all learnersAct as line manager for allocated staff, ensuring they are effectively managed, supported, and developedLead an innovative and effective pastoral care process, ensuring student progress, tracking, and success rates are consistently improvedDrive quality assurance initiatives, including leading on SAR (Self-Assessment Report) and QIP (Quality Improvement Plan)Ensure all student progression is tracked, monitored, and supported in collaboration with Student ServicesContribute to achieving both mainstream and commercial academy targetsDeliver high-quality teaching for approximately 10 hours per weekLead the curriculum team to ensure effective use of staff time and resourcesEnsure CPD is relevant, impactful, and supports outstanding classroom practiceSupport lesson observations, staff development plans, and performance improvement strategiesContribute to and support the annual academy SAR and QIP processesLead curriculum review planning and ensure QIP actions are implemented effectivelyIdentify external opportunities and projects to enhance teaching and learning strategyAssess staff development needs to ensure a strong and diverse skill base across the teamHead of Curriculum Requirements:
Proven experience in curriculum leadership or middle/senior leadership within a school or academy settingStrong understanding of curriculum design, quality assurance, and performance monitoringExperience managing and developing staff effectivelyAbility to lead on data tracking, student outcomes, and improvement planning (SAR/QIP)Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skillsA passion for inclusive education and raising achievement for all learnersQTS or relevant teaching qualification (essential)SEN experience or understanding (highly desirable)This role is ideal for an experienced teacher or current middle leader ready to step into a senior leadership position within a supportive and ambitious school.
