About the Role

As the Guidance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Advocate for students and provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and individual support, including recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents regarding educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family matters.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to build effective partnerships with parents, school staff and external support agencies, delivering coordinated support, case management and referral services that optimise student access and engagement in educational programs.
  • Provide counselling and referral services to support students in decision-making across educational, personal, social, emotional and career development, and deliver ongoing support during the implementation of their decisions.

  • Conduct student observation and psychoeducational assessment to determine learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status, and provide recommendations for appropriate educational adjustments and interventions.
