As the Guidance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated experience in student counselling and support, including mental health, behavioural, social and emotional needs
  • Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning difficulties and disability
  • Experience in case management, including coordinating support, referrals and follow-up with students and families
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and build partnerships with teachers, parents and external agencies
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide advice in sensitive situations
  • Sound understanding of student protection, risk management and ethical practice, including confidentiality and record-keeping requirements
  • Experience supporting inclusive education, including development of individualised plans (e.g. Educational Support Plans)
  • Capacity to respond to critical incidents, complex cases and crisis situations
