About the Role:
The Youth Worker will liaise with families, external agencies and school staff to implement strategies that promote student success and wellbeing. They will contribute to individual support plans, facilitate targeted interventions and assist in connecting families with appropriate services and supports.
Essential skills and attributes include:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and staff.
- Experience supporting children and young people with social, emotional or mental health needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and inclusive approaches.
Highly desirable:
- Experience working with students with disability, neurodiverse learners and students requiring additional support.
- Experience working within a school, youth, community services or human services setting.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships between students, families, school staff, and external agencies.
- Monitor student attendance and implemented strategies to improve engagement and participation.
- Identified and support students at risk of disengagement or early school leaving.
- Conduct home visits and work with families to promote positive educational outcomes.
- Develop and deliver programs focused on social skills, self-esteem, and student wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and student support documentation.
- Advise school leadership on student welfare concerns and risk factors.
- Coordinate intervention strategies to address barriers to school attendance and success.
