About us:
Home Hill State School has ten classes from Prep to Year 6 in the North Queensland Region. It is located approximately one-hundred kilometres north of Bowen and south of Townsville. The Bruce Highway passes through the township of Home Hill. Home Hill is a rural farming community of the Burdekin Shire and is predominately a sugar cane growing district with a sugar mill. The district is made up of neighbouring townships of Ayr, Home Hill and other smaller centres. Home Hill is situated on the southern side of the Burdekin River and a short ten minute drive north across the Burdekin Bridge to its 'twin town' of Ayr. Your opportunity:
As the Business Manager you will be responsible for the effective and efficient administrative management of the school by providing corporate services and administrative support to the Principal.
You will work within well-defined guidelines to provide advice and offer solutions to key stakeholders (external and internal) on business related problems (e.g. human resources, finance and facilities management), and have responsibility for autonomously delivering on priorities, seeking expert advice, adapting processes, problem solving and providing solutions according to clear outcomes, with regular guidance by the Principal.
The role combines front-office administration with Business Manager responsibilities, with the successful applicant independently managing the school office.
Responsibilities:
- Administration: Manage day-to-day school administration, records, correspondence, appointments and systems such as OneSchool.
- Staff Management: Supervise and support school support staff, including workloads, performance, rosters, leave, recruitment, induction and training.
- Finance: Support the Principal with budgeting and manage daily financial processes including accounts, payments, reconciliations, banking and corporate card monitoring.
- Facilities & Assets: Coordinate school resources, assets, maintenance, repairs, grounds and minor works, including engaging external providers when required.
- Technology: Coordinate maintenance and technical support for school technology and equipment.
- Documentation & Communication: Prepare reports, minutes, newsletters, policies, correspondence, publications and other school documentation.
- Priorities & Problem Solving: Manage competing priorities, respond to enquiries, adapt to changing requirements and provide practical solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build positive relationships with staff, students, parents, departmental representatives and the wider school community.
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Work with relevant networks and stakeholders to ensure school business operations meet departmental, legislative and compliance requirements.
