Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-respected secondary school in Dewsbury to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position commencing in October 2026 and running until the end of the academic year in July 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to join a supportive English department and make a positive impact on students' progress and attainment across Key Stages 3 and 4. Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong commitment to delivering engaging and inspiring lessons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress effectively.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the English department and school community.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement.

    • The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English Language and Literature.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
